TERMS OF SERVICE
Terms of Service
Established: September 28, 2026
Last updated: October 19, 2026
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) set out the conditions for using CONTACT, a film shooting log & Exif app provided by Kinimon (“we”, “us”). CONTACT consists of the logging app used on iPhone and Android and CONTACT LINK used on Mac (together, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
These Terms are an English translation of the Japanese original (利用規約). If there is any inconsistency between the two, the Japanese version prevails.
1. Account
- You can use the Service without signing in. In that case, your logs are stored on your device.
- To save your logs to the cloud (“Save to cloud” in Settings) or to subscribe to a paid plan, you sign in with a Google account.
- You are responsible for managing your account. You may not let anyone else use it or transfer it to anyone else.
2. Fees and payment
- Logging shots is free for any number of films. Writing to photos and exporting logs are free for up to two films; from the third film, a paid plan is required. Films are counted cumulatively by the films you have written to or exported, and deleting a film does not reduce the count. If you add records to a film after writing to or exporting it, up to three added frames are treated as the same film, and from the fourth added frame it counts as a new film. Even after you cancel a paid plan, you can continue to write to and export the films you had written to or exported before.
- Paid plans cost ¥300 per month or ¥2,400 per year (Japanese yen, including Japanese consumption tax). We will start accepting paid plan subscriptions on March 1, 2027.
- During the public beta period (until the end of February 2027), all features are free. Films logged during the public beta period remain free to write to and export after the period ends (records added after the period ends follow the three-frame rule in paragraph 1).
- If you start using the Service during the public beta period and subscribe to the yearly plan by December 31, 2027, your first year will cost ¥1,800 (including tax). From the second year, the regular yearly price applies.
- Paid plans renew automatically. Unless you cancel, the monthly plan renews every month and the yearly plan every year on the same date as your subscription date, and you will be charged.
- Payment is made by credit card (including Apple Pay) through a payment processor designated by us.
- If we change our prices, we will announce it in the Service at least 30 days in advance. The new price applies from the first renewal date after the announcement.
3. Cancellation and refunds
- You can cancel a paid plan at any time from the Settings screen. After cancelling, you can keep using it until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Because the Service is a digital service, fees already paid are not refunded, including when you cancel partway through a period. This does not apply if you could not use the Service for reasons attributable to us.
- After cancelling a paid plan, you can still view your logs and log new shots. You can write to photos and export logs within the scope of Section 2, paragraph 1.
4. Writing to photo files
- When you write on iPhone or Android (JPEG/TIFF), your original photo file is left unchanged, and a photo with the information written to it is saved as a separate file.
- When you write to JPEG or TIFF files with CONTACT LINK on Mac, the information is written directly to your photo file.
- When you write to DNG files with CONTACT LINK on Mac, the information is written directly to your photo file using ExifTool, free third-party software. DNG files can be written only on Mac.
- Please back up important photos before writing to them.
- ExifTool, which CONTACT LINK uses to write to DNG files, is software provided by a third party. Please obtain and use it in accordance with the conditions set by ExifTool.
5. Prohibited conduct
When using the Service, you must not:
- Act in violation of laws or public order and morals
- Place an excessive load on the Service’s servers or network
- Access the Service without authorization, or try to obtain other users’ information
- Copy, modify, redistribute or reverse-engineer the Service (except to the extent permitted by law)
- Provide the Service to third parties for commercial purposes without our permission
- Engage in any other conduct that we consider inappropriate
6. Rights to your logs and photos
- The rights to what you log and to your photos belong to you. We handle them only to the extent necessary to provide the Service.
- The rights to the Service’s programs, design, text, name and so on belong to us or to their rightful owners.
7. Changes, suspension and termination of the Service
- We may suspend all or part of the Service without prior notice for maintenance, failures, outages of external services or other unavoidable reasons.
- We may change the content of the Service or stop providing it. If we stop providing it, we will give notice at least 60 days in advance and provide a way to export your logs. We will refund, on a pro-rata daily basis, the fees corresponding to the remaining period of your paid plan.
8. Suspension of use
If you violate these Terms, we may suspend the use of your account without prior notice.
9. Disclaimer
- We do not guarantee that the Service will suit your particular purpose, work with every photo file, camera and photo management software, or be free of defects.
- Depending on your connection or device settings, your logs may not be saved.
- Logs stored on your device may be lost if you change devices, clear the app’s or browser’s data, or lose or damage your device. Because we do not hold these logs, we cannot restore them. To protect important logs, choose “Save to cloud” in Settings.
10. Limitation of liability
- Except in cases of our intentional misconduct or gross negligence, our liability for any damage you suffer from using the Service is limited to the total fees we actually received from you in the 12 months up to and including the month in which the damage occurred.
- We are not responsible for disputes between you and third parties.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may change these Terms in accordance with the Civil Code of Japan. When we do, we will announce the new content and the date it takes effect in the Service before that date.
12. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute relating to the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court as the court of first instance. Nothing in these Terms affects any rights you have as a consumer under the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
